We won the Gold! The comic Gold, that is. The RSC took the UK by storm this summer – take a look. After a five-week tour of the regions, we settled in for an exciting six-week run of The Complete World of Sports (abridged) at the Arts Theatre in London which coincided with the London Olympics.
Nottingham Live called the show, “Fast paced, entertaining and very, very funny… Highly recommended!” And according to the Daily Mail, we were one of the Top 20 Things to Do During the Olympics, “If the theatre and drama of the Olympics is not quite enough, take it up a notch or two at the Reduced Shakespeare Company’s show Complete World of Sports. A merciless but affectionate satirical take on sporting history.” If you didn’t catch the show in the UK, we’ll be touring it around the USA this spring. More details soon!
“It’s been too long! This summer we return to England for the European premiere of The Complete World of Sports (abridged) – just in time to coincide with some minor international sporting event that will apparently be there at the same time. Featuring the number of weeks we’ll be there (11), the places we’ll be playing (many), the West End theatre we’ll be returning to (not the one you probably think), memories of UK performances past, speculation about how the Olympics will affect West End ticket sales, a special appearance by Rich Fulcher from The Mighty Boosh, and excerpts from a live performance of the show. “Of all the great venues we’ve performed in around the world, this list definitely includes some of them. Featuring reminiscences about some of the great venues we’ve played, memories of the not-so-great venues we’ve played, one way of maintaining sanity while on the road, and the joys of celebrating disaster.
